Michelle Yeoh Is The First Asian To Win Best Actress Oscar For ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’
Michelle Yeoh has made history by being the first Asian woman to win an Oscar for Best Actress at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

The 60-year-old Malaysian star was awarded for her role in the sci-fi comedy film, ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, where she played a struggling Chinese immigrant laundromat owner who is plunged into alternate universes.
She was up against Cate Blanchett (Tár), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), Ana De Armas (Blonde) and Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) for this award.

When accepting her accolade, Michelle delivered some inspiring words for every female and Asian-identifying dreamer.
She said, “For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof that dreams dream big, and dreams do come true.” She also added, “Ladies, don’t let anybody tell you you are ever past your prime. Never give up.”

Besides Best Actress, the film bagged several other categories like Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Film Editing.
In total, ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ received 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Costume Design and Best Original Score, but brought home seven wins.
